Japan built the world’s largest LED vegetable factory

Recently, Taga City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan built the world’s largest LED vegetable factory that can produce 10,000pcs lettuces every day. Vegetable production has increased by 5 percent due to the use of LED grow light.

   

Previously, LED grow light are accustomed to emitting linear light, a large quantities of LED grow lights need to be installed for a large-scale radiation, which makes the cost of production significantly exceeded，it is difficult to earn profits. And the plant is currently adopting the new technology developed by the General Electric Company，which overcomes the LED grow light’s linear light and can be allowed to produce a wide range of scattering of light, and also issued several light waves promoting photosynthesis and plant growth, when the plant is planted, the new LED grow light can be used separately, depending on the growth stage, including “seedling stage”, “harvest”, etc., and the power consumed by this new LED grow light is lower by 4 percent.

In Japan, there are many vegetable plants using artificial light sources, LED grow light is also not uncommon, but most of plants are unable to adopt all of the LED grow light because of cost issues, which  use a mix of LED and fluorescent illumination.

The vegetable plant operators Mirai company expects the plant will provide the supermarket of the prefecture with vegetable, which is priced at 200 yen (about 12 yuan), the annual sales is expected to reach 300 million yen (about RMB 18,250,000 million).
